Cousins and Pretzel Days 2018

Owen and Jackson spent the week with my parents and since Rachel had a soccer game in Marshall that same week, I brought the 4 youngers and spent the night at my parents and the girls were able to have a "sleep over" with their cousins.  It was warm few days and the kids loved playing with the hose, sidewalk chalk and the scooters.  Matt and Annie picked the boys up and left for Fargo on Sunday morning.  We weren't able to see them when we got there but we were able to see Bob and Laura, Mya and Ally!  The girls hung out at the park, watched uncle Bobby play ball and ran around with treats that gpa or gma caved and got them.  Lauren and Natalie also participated in the tractor pull.  No trophy for these girls but they had a fun time anyway!

Golf and Track-DONE!

What a season the girls had!  The weather for spring sports just.....sucked....for no better word.  The track team took team pictures out in the snow, they had 4 meets cancelled, one of which was a home meet (they only have two), we sat thru numerous meets where we were either cold or wet, mostly wet...Caitlin couldn't practice pole vault until the snow melted.  Half way thru the season they lost one of their 4x400 runners to an injury and a pole vaulter to an injury.  Needless to say, the girls ended the season on a fabulous note.  They won sub-section title, and took runner up at sections.  The 4x400 relay team had their best time and took 3rd at sections(seeded 5th) and Caitlin ran her best 400 of the season!  It was a fun group of girls to watch!

The golf season wasn't much different than the track season.  There were MANY meets, postponed, rescheduled, cancelled and shuffled around.  Many meets Emily was either golfing in gale force winds and rain/mist or HOT and steamy.  However, Emily showed us all, her coach included, how much she improved from last year and if they were to give an award out for most improved I think she would have gotten it.  She golfed the first 3-4 meets at JV and then the coach had 4 girls golf-off for 3 varsity spots and Emily earned one of them!  She had a great season even though many times she came home from a meet mad at herself because she didn't think she did well.  But she was right in there with the rest of her teammates.  To end the season, she golfed her best 18 holes and ended the section tourney with a 100.  She golfed a 45 on the front 9 besting all of her teammates.  Emily was super excited and her teammates were excited for her too!  The girls as a team took 4th in their Section.  I'm so impressed with Emily's improvement and can't wait to see what she can do next year!

TWINS!

Back in March at the Luck of the Irish Fundraiser for John Ireland I was the lucky winner of a pair of Twins tickets!  I LOVE going to any outdoor athletic event, especially BASEBALL!  I thought it would be a fun thing for our whole family to enjoy so I was able to find 6 more seats right next to the ones I won!  I think the girls were more excited about the food rather than the game.  Lillian especially loved the cotton candy!  She ate WAY more than she should have.  However, we forgot her Nuk at home and we'd rather her be happy than not so we caved.  Despite forgetting the Nuk, driving thru miles of road construction while a 2yr old keeps asking for her nuk, almost rear ending someone in traffic and being a little on the chilly side, we did have a pretty fun time.  I think Brian and I will go solo though the next time!

Saying good-bye to Mrs. Lynch who taught for 26 years at JI!  What a milestone.  She was a tough teacher who stressed the importance of responsibility, organization, punctuation and following directions.  Even though the kids all cried at least once the year they had her, they still thought of her as one of their favorites.  Their favorites from 3rd grade: multiplying, states test and cursive.

Rachel graduates from John Ireland!

Finally!  Rachel graduates from JI and she's so ready for Middle School!  This class of kids have changed thru the years, some kids left but they were never forgotten.  I think this has been one of the most unique classes as far as personalities go but it worked for the most part.  They've always remained friends thru good times and bad.  I really do think this class will leave a void at JI next year but they will definitely make their mark at the schools they will go to next year.

Jeff Gilbertson decorated his truck and chauffeured them to Mill Pond, DQ, 7-Mile Park, Kato Escape Room and then finally to Sibley Park where they met their families for Pizza and playing!  What a great bunch of kids!
