Summer Fun - August

jesus saves soccer camp...

A highlight of the summer for Rachel who is going to be our little soccer player, is the Jesus Saves Soccer Camp that a local church puts on.  She looks forward to this camp every summer and this was her 3rd year.

tubing fun with the Gilbertsons...

Either this is craziness or stupidity...2 families on one boat=13 people.  Is this even legal?  Well, we do it anyway and we all have a crazy good time.  Gilbertsons are alway gracious enough to invite us out at least once during the summer to enjoy tubing, snacks (pretzel rods/cheese whiz & licorice), adult conversation/beverages and TONS of laughter!  Lauren absolutely loved being in the water which was a good sign since we would be leaving for KNMS later in the month.  After Jeff gets done whipping the kids around the lake and then take a quick dip to cool off we order pizza at Westwood and eat at the beach.

strawberry picking....

One early morning the girls and I packed up and met the Lundquists to pick strawberries at our local patch, Inspired Acres.  It was so fun and the strawberries were so yummy!  The kids all enjoyed searching for the perfect berry (which were all of them) and being silly while doing it. We look forward to going again!

camping out in the backyard...

The girls had been wanting to camp out in the back yard for quite some time now and one evening it seemed like the perfect evening to do it, despite the high humidity level.  They didn't seem to mind though.  Lauren and I did not camp (we enjoyed air conditioning)  They also got the dvd player set up (after some frustration and sweating) and later a surprise thunderstorm came which made for some great memories!

golfing with em...

Emily and I got to go on a golf date, just the two of us.  It was so much fun!  I didn't realize how much I truely enjoy golfing!  Emily was on a junior golf league this summer in which she golfed 9 holes every Monday morning for 10 weeks.  Shes a pretty good little golfer!

And a silly golfer too!

And because we did so well, a treat for us at River Rock!  Yumm-o
getting ready for kindergarten...
Our sweet John Ireland school put these signs on all the kindergarten students lawn the week before school started.  What a nice way to welcome these eager bunch of kids!
roof trusses...
It was a family affair building these massive roof trusses.  brian thought it would be fun to get the whole family involved.  I didn't.  but surprisingly we did have fun and we did learn patience...for at least a few hours:)
